Thank you for navigating to our site and for desiring to learn more "about us”!

The First Apostolic Council of Kentucky and Tennessee is an apostolic holiness fellowship of churches of like precious faith.

We have a time-honored tradition of holding up the apostolic Pentecostal banner. Our history confirms that roots of the First Apostolic Council of Kentucky and Tennessee date back well beyond axillaries of like faith.

We believe that Jesus is the only saving name (Acts 4:12). This belief is complimented by our efforts to evangelize the Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and surrounding areas by confronting lost souls with the claims of Jesus Christ.

Our stance on the person of Jesus Christ is clear and uncompromising to wit; we believe that God was manifest in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ according to the scriptures.

We reject all forms of tri-theism; yet hold fast to our conviction that it pleased the father that in him (Jesus) should all the fullness of the godhead dwell (Colossians 2:9).

Since we follow the teachings of the apostles of Jesus Christ our faith is apostolic, however we are Pentecostal by experience, which includes us among the ranks of those who are born and led of the spirit.

Our ecclesiastical roster includes one diocesan, Bishop Sherman L. Merritt, who is the chief overseer and several suffragen (assistant) bishops that were appointed by the diocesan to manage various regions of our evangelism field. The sum of these individuals makes up an executive (governing) board.

An elected chairman serves the First Apostolic Council in both secular and general business matters allowing the diocesan to work freely and fully as the spiritual (ecclesiastical) head of this great body.

Our churches are members by pastoral affiliation with our parent organization the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World

While each of our affiliated churches are autonomous, they fellowship in districts and enjoy the assistance of district elders (formerly called superintendents) who were also picked and placed by the diocesan.

Our council convenes on a tri-annual basis for corporate worship, revival, fellowship and business rotating between cities and states where our member churches are found.

We agree fully with the words of the apostle in Gal 3:28 " There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." hence, the pastors of the First Apostolic Council are both male and female.

We reject all forms of racism and separatism as we strive for unity, holiness and to continuously “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Auxiliary leaders are elected by the general body and serve faithfully on a completely voluntary basis.

A beautiful, large information display is provided in the lobby of each of our council meeting sites for your enjoyment and perspicuity as to historical info, current and coming events, F.A.C. pastors and church locations.

On behalf of our diocesan and the executive board, the First Apostolic Council welcomes you and your God given gifts and talents to join us!
