When you come to visit us, be sure to read the elegant large display case in the lobby. It contains many fascinating details of our church and affiliation history along with both current and upcoming events. You will get to know our pastors and be aware of the different church locations of the PAW.
Bishop Sherman L. Merritt is lead council of our church. His knowledge and history is steady and firm in faith, as for 25 years he has been pastor of Greater Christ Temple Church in Nashville. As diocesan and chief overseer, Bishop Merritt ensures that we all work together to foster and practice our beliefs in the Doctrinal Statement and to grow our organization by introducing many to God and the fellowship of Christ.
Our pastoral affiliation with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World is a testament to our commitment to the churche's historical footing placed over 100 years ago. This affiliation enables us to maintain autonomy while remaining effective in our district community for a regionally based fellowship. District elders play an important role in our council as we come to rely on their wisdom and assistance.
Three times a year we meet for worship, fellowship, praise revivals, and discussions of updates regarding activities, sustainability and growth, and other business matters of the council. We believe that all races should live together in unity as the psalmist said in Psalms 133:1, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" We also honor the gifts of pastoral callings for men as well as women. As part of our belief in business and God, we denounce any form of separatism and invite all to participate, believing what the apostle in Galatians 3:28 said in the scriptures, "There is neither Jew or Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." And our auxiliary leaders come to us voluntarily and are then elected by a general body. If your calling is of Christian service, then on behalf of our diocesan, the executive board and all of our members of the First Apostolic Council, we invite you to share your spiritual gifts and talents with us that are bestowed to you by God. Please contact us to find out more information on how you can become a member of our focused and faith-filled auxiliary!
